Far Cry - Game Review

I was actually somewhat impressed by this game. Not only was the game a little harder than most other first person shooter demos that I have played but the graphics were just that much better. The level in which you play can also be explored and you can find a few secret weapons and such. I have yet to play a single player demo with this much freedom in it. It seems that the only thing setting first person shooters apart are the graphics and the vehicles. The graphics are the biggest part and this game is somewhere around the top. You also get to play around with a few vehicles but they are only boats and you can’t do a whole lot with them. Everything else about this game is basically standard first person shooter. This game is better than the last few I have played but I am still waiting on that breakout first person shooter game.
Gameplay: 8/10
I really enjoyed the Gameplay in this game but once again, it is basically the same Gameplay as any other first person shooter on the market. I guess this will be the norm until the makers can find something better. I hope it comes soon.
Sound: 7/10
I feel like a broken record with these first person shooters but since they are the biggest seller on the PC, they get a lot of air time. The only problem is that all of them are alike in most views. The sound here is quite standard but, again, standard does not always mean bad. It just didn’t blow me away.

There are no CG’s or any of the likes in this game but I would expect them to be excellent when they do appear. It is a shame that more demos do not include a video of any kind on their demos.
Graphics: 9.0
The graphics in this game were top notch when it comes to FPS. I enjoyed playing this game with the graphics of the world that you can somewhat freely move around in. Impressive to say the least.
