Fear Single Player - Game Review
| | I absolutely love this type of game. A first person shooter with a psycho thriller twist. These days, a first person shooter has to have something else with it to be able to stand out from the crowd. To be part of this super-human force you need to have super-human abilities. You get the ability of “super reflexes.” Basically, this means that you can turn on slow motion. Now, I’m not really sure how this helps you because you too are in slow motion so it almost seems like it has no purpose. But either way, it’s fun to use and looks good as well. One thing that was also a little different about this game is that the enemies use so many different weapons and you can hold 3 at any given time. This enables the game to come out with an abundance of weapons and it also makes it more difficult by giving the enemies a chance to use any of them against you.
Gameplay: 9/10
A solid FPS with a scary, jumpy kind of feel to it. I ended up changing a few of the controls around for a better feel. The defaults had zoom as shift and right-clicking as close ranged attack. I thought this was pretty stupid since the AI is fairly well laid out and if you get too close to an enemy, you will die.
Sound: 8/10
The sound was very good especially while in the slow motion mode. Another great thing this game did was when the enemies would talk to each other. You could tell where they were coming from and knew there were at least two of them.
Video: 8/10
The graphics in these videos were not that great but what they put into the videos definitely made up for it. The videos were graphic and neglected to leave anything out. They were a lot of fun to watch and completely sucked you into the game.
Graphics: 8/10
Again, the graphics weren’t that great but it’s what they put into it for the “spookiness.” There are points where you can’t tell if someone is real or not. A person will suddenly appear in front of you and when you shoot it, nothing will happen. It’s just the quality over the quantity, in my view.
